Julie is a Councillor in her first term at Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality, but she’s no stranger to ETSI-BC. She was appointed to the Thompson-Okanagan Regional Advisory Committee of ETSI-BC by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District and that Committee elected Julie to the ETSI-BC Board.

First introduced to ETSI-BC in her role at Community Futures Thompson Country, where she was a Rural Business & Community Recovery Program Advisor, Julie says, “The better I got to know the organization and those involved behind the scenes, the more I was inspired by their work.”

For Julie, being involved in community leadership is very important. Being from a region comprised of many smaller rural and semi-rural communities, she looks forward to providing a voice for the region and is dedicated to assisting communities within her region to grow in a positive, and sustainable, way.

In 2020, Julie’s passion for working with small and medium-sized enterprises and collaborating with First Nations reignited her desire to jump back into economic development, where she began her career in the mid-nineties. “My experience with ETSI-BC gave me insight into the organization and what it stands for. I am looking forward to using this experience, and my comprehensive understanding of the region’s economic development needs, to contribute to discussions around opportunities for further progress.”

Based in Sun Peaks, Julie is attracted to the area’s beauty, its strong sense of community and the quality of life enjoyed by those who live there, many of whom have a sense of adventure and a deep love for being active outdoors. In her community, a commitment to care and stewardship for nature is shared by locals and tourists alike.
